FEB 10, 2011 … BASIC FORMS AND EGG CUP TRIALS …..
   2 lathes on bowls and basic forms.
   2 lathes on egg cup and wine glass demos.
   One lathe on open for help with special problems

   2 lathes on bowls and basic forms.

APR 14, 2011 … ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION …..
A discussion on shop set-up. Come ready with some
points and idea on how your shop is set-up to make your work more enjoyable.

MAY 12, 2011 …    We'll have lots of variety, with 2 lathes on basic spindles and small turning or finials
   A lathe set up for bowls with Stephen Walsh, Norm Kemp will help you learn to do
   a platters, and then we'll have some spheres with Derek Dix and pens with Brian Book
   Then there is generally lots of people around to talk about solving misc. problems
   you may be having.

JUNE 9, 2011 … GARAGE SALE …..
   We'll once again be holding a garage sale for the membership, by the membership.
   Bring in tools / machinery / wood / anything relating to woodworking that you may no longer use
   and wish to sell or exchange. You price your items, and you get the proceeds. You may want to
   label your items to make it easier to find the seller. The guild is holding this to help the
   membership. It puts together those who have things that they may want to get rid of, with members
   who may be looking for specific items.

SEPT 08, 2011 …
   Along with the variety of beginner lathe topics available, Malcolm will be talking to those
   who want to try making and hardening of steel for your own turning tools.
      We'll be starting the mentoring sessions for Hands-On as well.
      You will need to book a lathe and mentor ahead of time.
      (* All mentor lathes are currently booked *)

OCT 13, 2011 …
   We'll have lots of variety, with 2 lathes on basic spindles and small turning for beginners,
   a couple of lathes set-up for lidded boxes, and a couple on hollowing small vessels for
   like Christmas ornaments. Then there is generally lots of people around to talk about solving
   misc. problems you may be having.
      We'll be running the mentoring sessions for Hands-On as well.
      You will need to book a lathe and mentor ahead of time.

NOV 10, 2011 …
   With the holiday season near by, we'll have most of the lathes on Christmas gift ideas, ranging
   from wine stoppers to hollowed ornaments with finials. There will also be a chance for you to
   try some off center turning as well.
      We'll be running the mentoring sessions for Hands-On as well.
      You will need to book a lathe and mentor ahead of time.

DEC 8, 2011 … CHRISTMAS PARTY …..
   Once again to be held at the Burlington Legion Hall (828 Legion Rd).
   Do not forget your christmas ornaments to decorate the tree and trade, a new or home made toy
   to go to the Burlington Fire Department to help their toy drive. We will also be having our
   turning competition. The judging will be done by spouses and ribbons will be awarded.

JAN 20, 2011 …    General Meeting and Eugen Schlaak from GHWG
   We will be having our annual meeting and election of Executive members.
   Eugen will then present methods or sanding and buffing to get the best finish.

FEB 17, 2011 …    Mike Brazeau from GHWG
   Mike will cover turning a staved bird house that includes a compound
   staved roof. These make nice homes for the birds in the spring.

MAR 17, 2011 …    Peter Hyde from GHWG
   Peter will cover a potpourri of woodturning trivia
   It would be a good idea to bring your notebook.

APR 2, 2011 …    Cindy Drozda demo at GHWG
   Cindy will be doing a full day (9am to 3pm) demonstration at the Knights of Columbus Hall
   at 2400 Industrial Street. For tickets, please contact a member of the executive.

APR 21, 2011 …    Frank Ditomaso from GHWG
   Frank will show methods of enhancing bowls and
   discuss staved bowls.

MAY 19, 2011 …    Malcolm Cumming from GHWG
   Malcolm will discuss lacquer finishes and we will also
   have the 2011 Presidents Challenge.

MAY 26, 2011 …    Graeme Priddle demoing at WGO
   Graeme will be demoing at the WGO before heading east to demo in
   Kingston and Montreal. For more info contact John at Woodchuckers

JUN 16, 2011 … Bob Fenn from Thames Valley
Bob will demo making wooden bracelets.

to be held in Saint Paul, Minnesota, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.

SEPT 15, 2011 …    Eugen Schlaak from GHWG
   Eugen will start getting us thinking about the holiday season
   by demoing Chistmas ornaments.

SEPT 24, 2011 …    Spalting Workshop at U of T
   Seri Robinson and her team have been spalting up a storm at their
   facility at University of Toronto and they are doing a couple of half
   day training sessions to get hands on experience as well as spalting

Jim will cover decorative vases.

OCT 26 & 27, 2011 … Jimmy Clewes All day hands-on
Jimmy conducted 2 successful full day hands-on sessions with GHWG members.

We had around 40 people there.

Nov 17, 2011 …    Carl Durance, from the Grey Bruce Woodturning Guild
   Carl will demonstrate how to embellish small wood turnings through the incorporation of simple
   Celtic knot design. The demonstration will include the use of various cutting and gluing jigs;
   cutting veneers and gluing veneers to form laminates; cutting, inserting the laminates, and gluing
   the blank; and turning and finishing the laminated blank to yield a Celtic knot bracelet.

Jan 19, 2011 …    Annual General meeting and Brian Book covering CA pen finishing
   The yearly General meet will bring everyone up to date on the guilds financial status as well as
   we change up members of the Exec. This year we will be looking to replace the Pres and 1st VP
   positions. To help round out the evening, Brian Book will do a demo of his method of prepping and
   applying CA finish to pens.

Feb 16, 2011 …    Carl Durance, from the Grey Bruce Woodturning Guild
   Carl will demonstrate how to make a kaleidoscope. The presentation will start with a brief overview of an
   array of kaleidoscope kits, including the popular egg-scope, but will focus on creating a working kaleidoscope
   from scratch. The demonstration will include an explanation of the (simple) science of the kaleidoscope mirror
   systems, cutting the mirrors, creating the barrel using staves, and making a rotating end piece.
   The session will conclude with an overview of alternative mirror systems

   Doug will be in town demoing and doing a couple of hands-on days, and he will actually be our
   guest presenter for the monthly meeting.

May 17, 2011 …    2011 President's Challenge. This year we will proceed a bit differently for the evening
   as will not have a demonstrator during the evening. It will be more of a social evening to
   give you a better chance to look over the competition pieces.
   We may look at having a quick slide show of the 25th Anniversay AAW Symposium held this past
   June.
