As you look through the past Chip Flyers, you will likely see Doug's name in there often as he loved to explore new ideas and share his techniques with anyone. Eugen obtained a vessel that Doug had made from his estate and built a special trophy that is presented to the Most Promising Novice turner each year as chosen my the members of the Executive at the Annual Competition in the Spring.   2018 Winner: In 2018 the award was presented to Marvin MacMeekin.   2017 Winner: In 2017 the award was presented to John Mills.   2016 Winner: In 2016 the award was presented to Travis Ellis.   2015 Winner: In 2015 the award was presented to Peter Wrench.   2014 Winner: In 2014 the award was presented to Joe Love and we had Sharon Newlove present the award.   2013 Winner: In 2013 the award was presented to Gwyn Parry and we had Sharon Newlove present the award.   2012 Winner: In 2012 the award was presented to Alex Bonnewell and the award was present by the Club President Mike Brazeau.   2011 Winner: In 2011 the award was presented to Glen Lawson and we again had the privilege of having Sharon Newlove present the award.   2010 Winner: In 2010 the award was presented to Don Svob and we again had the privilege of having Sharon Newlove present the award.   2009 Winner: The first winner in 2009 was John James and we had the privilege of having Sharon Newlove, Doug's wife, present the award to John.
